KID ON THE RUN

Home to eleven-year-old orphan, Otis Sutter, is a box in an alley along the
Mississippi River at St. Louis, Missouri.  Men find the boy's home and few
possessions, destroy everything, and send him on his way.  It is November and a
snow storm is building.  Starved, cold, and no place to go, Otis becomes sick and
collapses in an alley near the wharf.  An intoxicated old ex-frontiersman, and buffalo
hunter, Alfred Spire, finds the boy and is faced with the dilemma of walking on and
minding his own business or helping the lad.  This is a poignant and heart-warming
story about two lonely characters and the circumstances that draw them together.
